Privacy Policy

**Last updated:** August 1, 2026

The Kairos is a bilingual self-discovery and life-rhythm reflection app. We have designed it to keep your data on your device whenever possible. This policy explains what is stored, what is sent over the network, and what we never do. The Kairos is provided by First Chain Technology LLC.

## 1. What we store on your device

The Kairos stores the following items locally on your device only:

– **Birth profiles** you create in the Profile tab (display name, calendar type, birth date, birth time, timezone, optional relationship label, the language you prefer for that profile, and — if you use the birthplace search — the selected place’s name, latitude, longitude, timezone, and country).

– **Computed BaZi charts** generated from your birth profiles. The chart calculation itself runs on a deterministic on-device chart engine.

– **Saved AI reflection reports** that you have asked the app to generate.

– **Pointers and flags**, such as which saved profile is currently active, your preferred app language, your subscription entitlement state, and a small set of non-sensitive app-state flags.

Your birth profiles (including any saved birthplace coordinates), computed charts, and saved reports are stored in SQLite on your device. Sensitive pointers (the active-profile id, language preference, and your subscription entitlement state) live in your device’s secure keychain.

## 2. What we send over the network — and when

**Birthplace search.** If you use the birthplace search when creating or editing a profile, the text you type is sent to The Kairos API’s place-search proxy, which queries a third-party place provider (currently GeoNames) to return matching cities. The app then stores your selected place (name, latitude, longitude, timezone, country) on your device with the profile. If you do not use the search, no birthplace query is sent.

**Generating a reflection.** When you tap to generate an AI reflection (the Home Life-Rhythm content, a Me-tab detail reading, or a Compatibility report), the mobile app sends the following to The Kairos API, for **that one request only**:

– The already-computed structured chart data for the relevant birth profile (or two profiles, for Compatibility). This includes the birth profile’s input fields, **including the saved birthplace latitude / longitude / timezone** when present, because those are used for chart normalization and location-based time refinement (local mean solar time).

– The locale you chose (English or Traditional Chinese).

– The type of report you asked for (today / month / year / detail / compatibility / report-type).

What is **not** sent: any device identifier, IDFA, IDFV, or advertising identifier; any analytics ping, crash report, or telemetry payload. We do **not** request precise device-GPS location permission for this flow; birthplace comes only from the text search you choose to run.

## 3. AI writing layer

The Kairos API converts the structured chart and a curated set of internal interpretation notes into reflective bilingual prose. The current default model is configured server-side; no model provider keys ever live on your device. The model is instructed never to re-derive chart facts and is filtered against a banned-phrase list so that medical, legal, financial, deterministic-prediction, and relationship-certainty wording cannot reach you.

## 4. Subscriptions and in-app purchases

If you choose to subscribe to The Kairos Pro, your purchase is **processed by Apple** through the App Store’s in-app purchase system. We do not receive or store your payment-card details; Apple handles the transaction and billing.

We use **RevenueCat**, a third-party subscription-management service, to manage and check whether your subscription is currently active so the app can unlock Pro features. To do this, RevenueCat may receive your **purchase and subscription status** and an **app / device / customer identifier** used to match your entitlement to your device. This information is used **only** to manage your subscription entitlement.

We do **not** use this information for advertising, and we do **not** use it to track you across other apps or websites. RevenueCat acts as our service provider for subscription management only.

## 5. What we do not do

– We do not back up your birth data to the cloud.

– We do not sync your birth data across devices.

– We do not share your birth data with third parties. (Subscription status and the entitlement identifier described in §4 are handled only for subscription management and are not your birth data.)

– We do not show ads and do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA).

– We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs to profile you across apps or websites.

– In-app digital unlocks use Apple’s In-App Purchase only (and Google Play Billing on Android in the future); we do not use Shopify or any non-IAP payment channel for in-app unlocks.

– We do not provide medical, legal, financial, or relationship decisions. The app is for self-reflection and cultural exploration.

## 6. How to delete your data

Settings → Delete All Local Data clears every saved profile, every cached chart, every saved AI reflection report, and the active-profile pointer from your device in one user-confirmed step. Your chosen app language is intentionally kept across this action so you do not need to re-select it.

Uninstalling the app removes everything except the keychain-resident language preference (this is an Apple/Google platform behaviour). Resetting the device clears the keychain.

## 7. Children

The Kairos is not directed at children under 13. Please do not create a profile on behalf of a child. If you believe a child has created a profile, delete the data via Settings → Delete All Local Data.

## 8. Changes to this policy
